Sonic Youth Hiro Ballroom NYC

They played a lot of songs off Sonic Nurse, which was fine by me. What else?? I can't find a setlist, but we got Teenage Riot, PCH, Expressway, Shadow of a Doubt, Eric's Trip....it was a solid show, and it's my favorite venue in NYC, 'cause it's cool and a block from home. Thurston was in a good mood, the audience was pretty cool, if a little sedated.

The weirdest thing about the show: "The Cops." A three-piece with no bass, they played 2 chord garage, BADLY, and I'm pretty sure it was a joke slamming the hipster scene. They kept yelling "we're from Brooklyn!" It was amazing. I'll take bad garage over formula nu-wave any day.

Martha Wainwright (sister of Rufus) tonight.... Go check out her ep "Bloody Mother Fucking Asshole" on Rhapsody. It's AWESOME.
